Y'all know about T2 doncha? Old chat term (at least, I think) that meant paragraph posting in RP (T1 being one-liners).
So! Two people at a time, jump in and spar using paragraph posts. If magic is to be used, announce this at the begining of the duel, and limit damage and usage.
An array of weapons can be used, but make sure to describe your weapon of choice if it is something that your opponent is not familiar with.
A duel is limited to the parameters set up by the two duelists before the duel begins.
Please remember that you cannot 'land' a blow on your opponent in your post - giving your opponent an opportunity to 'dodge' if s/he can. ALSO! Please don't just say: "Dodges. Then blah blah blah..." Come up with how your character would have been able to dodge the blow. If your opponent has successfully cornered you with words, accept the blow and carry on.
Go for it!

Oh dear god.
OKAY! Say if you wanted to spar with Sasuke and Naruto - you would pick to be either Sasuke, OR Naruto... the other person who wants to be in this fight, say, Me, would have to pick the other character.
Now, when posting what you want your character to do - it needs to be in paragraph form, detailed and not confusing. It all needs to make sense. Also, you can't go beyond the parameters set out at the begining of the battle. For example: The battle ground is a small room. Sasuke and/or Naruto CANNOT open a door to go outside, or crash through a window. This keeps the battle contained and simple.
Also, don't just dodge every attack - the battle wont go anywhere if that happens - plus, it gets really annoying; however, if you can find an opportunity to dodge in a post, take it - though if there is no possibility of escape, take the blow and counter-attack.
better?

I get the basic concept. But...how do we exactly fight? And in paragraphs? So like...
Sasuke approaches Naruto as he pulls out a kuni. He jumps in the-
There, see? Its hard to go beyond anything in a paragraph, you could cheat easily.

Explain things in a little more detail - I'll post a paragraph later on this evening.
example: Where does Sasuke approach Naruto from? The left or the right? When he jumps, is it over Naruto's head, to the left of Naruto at head height, to the right level with his torso? Does he throw the kuni, or does he slash out? With what hand does he draw the kuni with?
Think about how you would battle in real life.

"Explain things in a little more detail"
LITTLE!? The way you explained, I get how we can type in paragraph form..but LITTLE? That's so much. Its like serious play by play.
Sasuke approaches Naruto from the front with his left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, left foot, then right foot, and then he stops with his left foot. He uses his right hand and only uses 2 fingers to open the case full of kuni in the strap pouch on his left leg.--
It gets too hard.

yeah yeah... jerk *mumbles*
Okay! Here's an EXAMPLE! *grumbles more*
:: The warrior stands opposite his opponent, his right hand upon the hilt of the giant broadsword strapped to his back. With a grunt he frees the sword from his back and holds it en guard in front, his right leg bent under the weight of sword and man, and the left leg trailing straight behind him. He brings his left hand up to finish the stance. His eyes never leave his opponent, and his attention never wavers. The air is still for a moment, as if the world is holding its breath. Then he attacks, a gutteral howl escaping his mouth as his charges forward, sword still in front, hoping to stab forward into the heart of his foe. ::
something like that... and, to respond:
:: The howl signals the charge, and so it begins.
The woman steps forward into the attack and turns her body to the right, letting the forward momentum of the man carry him past her, his sword impaling the air where she was only just standing. Having no weapon, she strikes out at the now-exposed collar bone of her opponent with the knife-edge of her right hand. ::
etc.

The warrior, with all momentum useless, tucks his head down into his right shoulder. The blow is absorbed by his helmet and shoulderplate rather than the significantly less protected neck and collarbone. As he passes the woman, his left arm snaps back while his torso swivels right, hand letting go of the sword, and a visciously spiked elbow is now in line with the woman's right cheek. He is off-balance, but his turn is aided by his momentum and the deadly elbow is already past the point where her left arm can stop it.

A thought flits through her mind, and a curse only begins to leave her lips as the mans elbow is suddenly at her face. She rocks back on her heels, throwing her head back to avoid the brunt of the blow as his elbow smashes (albeit more gently than he expected) into her right cheek, knocking her completely off balance and sending her stumbling backwards. She regains her stance, mentally cursing herself for giving so much ground, and spits blood. She is on the defence.
(I love how it paints such a vivid picture in my head)
