OKieday! Self-explanitory, for the most part... We're all beginners, starting off with one of the starter pokemon from any of the games, or starting off with any of the common pokemon from around the starting hometown (ie: Pidgey, Starly, Bidoof, Nidoran... whatever. Currency will be dollars, and pokeballs will be 20 dollars each, potions will be 50, super potion 95. We'll settle more prices as we get to them. Do you guys wanna RP as a group heading off together - like in the shows? Do you wanna head out and actually aim to get badges and the like - or would you rather focus on other adventures? Or, omg... real life now but with pokemon ;; (imagine Ash trying to travel through downtown vancouver with Pikachu at his side, getting lost trying to find the pokemon centre XD OMG! so funny).

Here's how I'm starting! lol
:: Jenna's Birthday was coming up, and she felt less than enthused. '21...' she mentally grumbled, getting ready for work - at least the summer was coming up - and that meant that she could finally get away from here for a little vacation - or maybe just to stay around the house to relax and enjoy the sunshine. She could finally take the family Growlithe, Barq, out for nice, long walks - or spend more time with her mom's Chatot, or maybe even cuddle with the two Persians that only just entered her family's life. She didn't really want to do any of that, she wanted her own pokemon, and she wanted to use her vacation doing what any young and ambitious person wanted to do - go get badges! The nearest gym was in Victoria, on the island - and that's where Jenna wanted to go - but she couldn't very well take one of her parent's pokemon... She glumly trudged down the stairs, pokeballs, among other things, clunking about in her purse - empty. Her mother, who usually gave her a ride to work, was waiting in the car, and her father was standing beside the driver-side door. They were smiling. "Jenna, we wanted to give you this early." they both said, and her father handed her a pokeball from across the top of the car, "Happy Birthday." Jenna was confused at first, then, upon pressing the button and tossing the ball, squealed when a little Charmander came out! "Eee! I love it! Thanks guys!" she knelt down and shuffled over to the Charmander, "Hey little guy - oop, girl. How are ya? I'll name you Hera, mother of the gods!" she picked up the bundle of fire lizard and cradled it close to her chest, letting it get used to her scent. The Charmander's tale brightened and it squeaked, it's emerald eyes assessing Jenna and wondering if she was trustworthy. Apparently she was, because soon the little creature was sleeping in her arms. "Too bad I have to work today!" groaned Jenna, returning Hera to her pokeball and clipping it to her belt expertly (she'd been practising), "It's a good think I get off at 5:30 - I want some daylight left to start training!" ::

Haha...Is it really your birthday? Oh, by the way, I don't have a DS which means I don't have Pearl/Diamond, which means...I don't know any of the new pokemon.
Locke had been into pokemon since birth. He was always facinated by the hundreds of pokemon. He had remembered, that his brother had already set off on a journey. He wanted one of his own too. He'd been begging to get a pokemon for the longest time, and now, it finally worked.
Early in the morning, he was waken up by his older brother. He had returned from his journey. "Onii-chan!" Locke yelled. He thrust his arms around his brother's neck. But the reaction Locke received, wasn't a good one at all. Locke saw as his brother tightened his eyes, and tears came out. In a weary voice, he said, "My pokemon...were killed...I don't deserve to be a trainer any more." Locke sat in his bed, mouth agape, eyes dilated.
<Insert Locke's brother's name here> looked up wiping his tears. He took out a pokeball from his pocket, and placed it in Locke's palm. "He's my last one. Protect him, and keep him safe. He's a newborn, so he hasn't adapted to life much. Good bye, Locke." said <Insert Locke's brother's name here>. <Insert Locke's brother's name here> got up and pulled out a gun. He held it to his face, and in a split second, he was gone. Locke didn't know what was happening. He fainted after he saw the blood splatter over his walls.
Hours later, he woke up, police cars and officers around him. He cried a bit, then picked up the pokeball, and placed it in his knap sack. He put books, his pokedex, extra balls that were in <Insert Locke's brother's name here>'s bag, and his money inside aswell. He strapped the bag onto his bag, and looked at the white chalk line that used to be <Insert Locke's brother's name here>'s death bed. He said a little prayer, and jumped out his window.
He ran, and ran for what seemed to be an entire month, all in a matter of minutes. He arrived in Ladner Village, and went into a store called Black Bonds.

emo, man... totally emo... (btw: My b-day is June 8th ^_^ it's clooooossseee!!) :: Jenna was so excited - she was going to ask for the summer off so that she could train her newfound friend, though fate had other ideas - Jenna released Hera from her pokeball during her lunch break to feed her, when her manager burst into the back room. "Oh my God - Jenna, no! Put that thing away, it's a fire hazard!" her manager (who shall remain nameless) screeched, scaring Hera. The poor Charmander ran to hide under behind a stack of books, the fire on her tail flaring as she stressed. Jenna freaked, the manager freaked, and Charmander was near to tears in fear - which only cause her tail-fire to grow even more - and then the books caught fire. Needless to say, Jenna was fired on the spot - so she took Hera, and her bag, and left the store just as Locke was entering - "Oh, hey, Locke - you ok?" Jenna stopped, rubbing her nose and her eyes to clear her tears. ::

Haha, its all I could come up with on the spot. Sides, pokemon DO tend to be emo at times. Err, yea. And your birthday is the same day Happy Feet's sequel-ish movie comes out... Surf's Up! Anyways.
Locke could tell Jenna was upset too. He could hear...a whimper behind her words. "No, not really...what's wrong with you though?" he said in a comforting voice.
While Locke said that, he reached into his pocket and rolled the pokeball side to side in his pocket. He wanted to show Jenna, but...this didn't seem like the right time. At least not now, with Jenna upset, and Locke's brother's death, it would seem, almost pointless to show Jenna Locke's new pokemon.
And to Locke's surprise, he actually didn't even know what was in it. Let alone, if any thing was inside the pokeball. He had hoped it would be something rare, unlike the common starters like a Ratata or Pidgey.

:: Jenna's try at a smile turned into a frown, "I just lost my job. Wanna go to Starbucks? I need a tea..." They walked into Starbucks, and Jenna got her tea, then she sat down and waited for Locke to sit down as well. "I got an early Birthday present from my folks this morning, and I was so excited that I let it out during my lunch break - and it started a fire - but only because my manager scared it! Well, scared HER. Her name is Hera," Jenna looked around, making sure it was safe to release her newfound friend, and, seeing a "NO POKEMON" sign hanging above the door, sighed, "She's a Charmander." ::

When Locke and Jenna went to Starbucks, he got himself a cup of hot chocolate. After he got his drink, and followed Jenna to the table, he sat down. He listened to Jenna's story, then said, "Ouch...Well, I never DID like your boss. Even if we've only met once or twice, he/she gives me the creeps. And a Charmander? Lucky! I'd say they're one of my faves. I don't know what mind is though...and I don't know if its a boy or girl." He said the last sentence with a fake laugh behind it.
Locke looked at Jenna, her eyes on the 'NO POKEMON' sign. 'I want to fight Jenna in a pokemon battle...but I can't in public' he thought to himself. Making a quick idea in his head, he said, "Alright, Jenna. Today is our official day of becoming the newest pokemon trainers! Lets go into the woods and test our skills."

Tia had had her pokemon since she was 6. Her father was a pokemon professer in Alberta and had caught a Plusle for Tia for her 6th birthday. She had loved "Leplu" more than anything, and hailed the gods that she would never evolve. Now, being 12, she had started her journey for badges.
The wind blew Leplus ears soflty, Tia brushed the hair back in place. "*sigh* I wish we could make more freinds Leplu-chan. Not much to do if your traveling alone..." She began banging her head against the wall of Ladners Starbucks. "I never would have thought it would be THIS boring here... Lets go get some coffee..."
(Sorry, gotta go. I'll add more later!)

:: Jenna looked at Locke in surprise. "You got a pokemon, too? Cool - what is it?" she was curious, and almost didn't hear him when he said to 'test their skills', "Wait - what? I haven't even trained Hera yet - I need to battle her against some wild pokemon before I take on any trainers - plus, I kinda wanna catch a few around here, too." she remembered seeing a Fearow flying over her house the other day and vowed to catch one for herself. "I wonder if I can catch a Houndour around here?" she said half to herself, gulping her over-hot tea. ::

Locke realized he had forgot to mention he had a pokemon too. "Haha, well, if you want to train, its best to go up against a trainer first before you panic when you're in the real deal. Although, I don't think I'm qualified to be titled as a trainer, since...I haven't trained my pokemon yet. I don't even know what it is." he said in a confident tone.
'Houndour, huh?' he was thinking to himself. Locke continued. 'Maybe not here...but...' He repeated his thoughts out loud. "Maybe not around this area, but up in the next town...I think it should be Richmond City, they've got some pretty cool pokemon lurking around" He remembered in sixth grade, where he learned his mapping skills. 'The towns in this province...are...Sunny Tsawwassen, Ladner Village, Richmond City, Vancouver, and Kelowna. After that, it might be considered that we won't be going back home...so its best to stay around these places first.' he thought to himself. Once again, he repeated his thoughts aloud. Locke picked up his cup of hot chocolate, and downed the rest of it, and took out a few coins. Leaving the coins on the table, he gave a little signal to Jenna, as if he were saying, 'Alright, lets go!'
